Employer to pay $400k+ for Staff Harassment

In EATON v TRICARE a court awarded $435,583 in damages to a worker who suffered psychiatric injuries from aggressive and belittling conduct by the manager of a nursing home. The claimant also complained of being overworked.
Employers are under a duty to provide a safe work space and the case is a timely reminder that employers can be liable for the actions of staff if a toxic work culture sets in.
It is absolutely essential that employers put in place a system to detect and monitor behaviours in the work place.
